Salento is a hidden Wedding treasure
Salento is the new trending wedding destination among Hollywood starts, and VIPs. It is the choice of those who looking for something unique, authentic and intimate away from mass destinations.
Archaeological sites, medieval fortresses, castles, and romantic churches, makes it even more attractive for many couples seeking a traditional setting.
Also to be considered that the weather is great all year round therefore your options to choose a date are more vast then in most of Europe. The average annual temperature is 15.3 degree Celsius and hardly goes under 8 degrees during the day even in the winter days. Not unusual to experience sunny days and temperatures over 20 Celcius degree even in the middle of December or February. However, during the winter the peninsula is windy therefore we would advise you to choose an indoor or semi-enclosed venue if you’re special occasion is in the winter.

Wedding traditions and uniqueness
Salento is rich in farmhouses and agricultural lands therefore those who choose to celebrate their special occasion here should expect lots of homegrown, organic food, abundance of fresh fruit, veg and seafood on the menu.
In Italy there is a saying that ‘Neither of venus, nor of mars, one neither marries nor departs: Venus stands for Venerdi, means Friday and Mars stands for Martedi, means Tuesday. Italians consider these two days not suitable for wedding day. So if you want to adhere to local traditions Tuesday and Friday are days to avoid. However, if you are not superstitious you can book a venue for one of these days and maybe grab a bargain.
Take it easy! in Salento no one is in a hurry. In southern Italy, a little lateness is not considered rude. On the contrary, the bride should be a little late, no more than 15 minutes tho, so that she gives the groom and guests time to prepare for her entrance.
